Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor, and commentator. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a master's degree of English literature. Mitchell joined KYW Radio and TV as an Philadelphia reporter in the year 1967. In 1976 she became a CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). A few years later, she was a general correspondent at NBC News in Washington. The year 1981 saw her begin reporting on the White House and became chief congressional correspondent in 1988. She was named the chief White House correspondent in 1992 and the chief foreign affairs correspondent for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell has appeared as an anchor and a panelist on the TV news show Meet the Press. Mitchell was a part of the panel during 1988 Presidential Debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan who was former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded numerous honors for her journalism achievements, such as an award called the Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. Mitchell was also awarded by the Leonard Zeidenberg Award from the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell covered in the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 during Ronald Reagan's two terms as president. Mitchell covered a range of noteworthy stories including weapons control, the budget tax reform as well as the Iran-contra scandal and went on numerous trips together with President Reagan for summits alongside Mikhail Gorbachev and other world top leaders.
